Sometimes going out isn't an option, but you still would like to spend some fun quality time with your beloved. Date night ideas at home are what the doctor prescribed. Fun, thoughtful, easy to prepare at the end of the day - a perfect kind that guaranteed you will have fun!
But remember, it's all about the company! You can make anything fun and exciting! So here are some things that you can do together to find a deeper connection with each other! Date night ideas at home.
1. Take an online class together.
I already mentioned Master Class before, in my gift guide to a banker. I got it for my husband for Christmas, and let me tell you... it's priceless!
My husband and I make a date night out of it. You learn so much new, you enjoy great company, you share your thoughts! Perfect date night!
Especially the class on mixology and Gordon Ramseys cooking class! Oh my! I didn't think there was an art to scrambled eggs. I was so wrong!
2. Make a movie night experience.
Yes, I'm sure you watch movies together, but what if you take it to a whole new level?
Prepare popcorn, chocolate, and other goodies, and let your partner choose a movie (something that you wouldn't watch otherwise). Return the favor next time.
3. Get yourself a karaoke!!
If you follow me on my Instagram, you know that we loooove to sing! And since I got my hubby these karaoke mics for Christmas, we use them pretty much all the time! It's super fun! I promise! Plus, isn't it better to practice at home before getting embarrassed in a legit karaoke place? 😁
4. Go down memory lane and make a scrapbook.
Ok. You might think no man would like to do something like that! Oh well, you'll be surprised! I and my husband had so much fun the other night when we decided to finally put those 2019 photos into an album.
5. Do a puzzle together.
Or even better, a Katamino game. I got it for my 3-year-old daughter and while she can only put together the first 3-4 levels, you can do the whole thing. Trust me, it gets quite complicated after the 6th level haha but there are so many options that definitely won't make you bored!
6. Build something.
My husband helped me to build a base for our kid's playground and we had the best time ever! There is something bonding about figuring out the measurements, relying on each other, and being team players while building something together.
You can also read about how I made the advent calendar for my husband a few years back when he was getting a surprise/experience every day in December, so it was more of a "date nights for a month" calendar. Fun times 😀
7. Have a backyard picnic.
Take a blanket outside, some wine and cheese, and pretend you are young and free in the park ;D Or take it to a whole new level and bring your tent outside. you can do glamping and even spend a night in a tent, not worrying about camping discomfort.
8. Have a tasting party
Get different wines, or even root beers, or maybe different cheeses, and try them together. If you decide to invest in a Master class, there is a wonderful class on wine appreciation 😉
9. Create lists
We have this journal "52 lists of togetherness" that has variations of lists, like "places we want to visit" or "what's your favorite quality of each other", or "a bucket list". We fill it out every now and then and it is always a good time.
10. Have vinyl records party
Get a collection of vinyl, make some fancy cocktails, burn some candles, and transform your room/basement/bedroom into a speakeasy.
11. Recreate your favorite dish from your favorite restaurant.
My husband recently surprised me with a date at home where we recreated my favorite seafood in white creamy sauce pasta from the restaurant in Little Italy, NYC where we used to go all the time. Priceless.
12. Paint with the step by step tutorial.
Do you know those cool places where you drink wine and paint? Why wouldn't you recreate it at home with your loved one? Get some cheap canvas, borrow paint from your kids and paint your soul away!
13. Write music or songs.
And you don't need to have a talent, because no one will ever see it. Just rhyme together, have fun and let your soul sing a song haha Well, I'm clearly speaking from experience.
14. Truth or Dare.
Old classic never gets old. Dare each other to do embarrassing things and laugh it out.
15. Make a country-themed night.
Oh, I love those! Simply choose a country and center everything around it. We've had a Japanese night, French, Spanish, Italian.. You can come up with so many cool ideas and always make it different! I think a few countries were a part of the Advent calendar that I previously mentioned.
16. Have breakfast in bed.
Even if it’s a night date! Remember the scrambled eggs we made with Gordon Ramsey? That was dinner time. In bed. No regrets whatsoever.
17. Take a personality test.
Even better - take a personality test for your spouse and compare results.
18. Take a bubble bath.
Do I need to say more?
19. Home improvement.
DIY is key to my soul. So when my honey offers to have a date doing something crafty, I'm all in and jumping in excitement. Perhaps, your other half too 🙂
20. Create a scavenger hunt for each other.
Come up with a prize and clues on how to find it. It doesn't matter that you can't leave the house. There is plenty of potential in your home too! You can also make clues into tasks (the prize should be well worth it) and maybe make your husband tackle a chore or too hahaha
Fine, maybe just cute little clues would do. Our anniversary is coming and I think I've got a few ideas on how to make it special considering we can't leave the house.
I hope some of these date night ideas at home inspired you to do something fun with your loved one! Have fun and stay safe at home!
