As soon as I stepped into this 1900s house I was charmed by the library room that was already in the house.
If you follow along my journey, I always dreamt of building a library in my home. When I saw that this house already has a library, I was sold. Well, for a lot of reasons but this is one of them.
It's quite a spacious room that has built-in bookshelves on both sides. So let me talk to you about plans for this room, since you might guess this will be the first project I'll finish in this house.
Update: or so I thought. Our home insurance company made an urgent request so I had to start on another project - laying a brick hearth around our wood stove. That took me a good few weeks but I'm done and ready for my dream library 🥰
Library mood board inspiration
I was always so drawn to dark moody libraries so it's not a difficult choice to decide that this library will be dark and moody.
I'm also jumping on this trend to paint all the trim and even the ceiling. I know, some of you might disagree with my choice, but hey, this is my home and I can do here what I want.
Here is some inspiration that might convince you.
I'll try, if it won't work out I can always repaint it! It's not like laying brick in your living room that will stay there forever🤪
I also want to swap up the chandelier and as for furniture, I'd like to have these orange leather chairs that cost $6000 each. This probably won't happen so I have to come up with a more budget-friendly solution.
And this is the mood board and the vibe I'd love to create.
What do you think about this blue moody dark library? Any thoughts or suggestions?
