I recently finished my first room makeover. I refinished the screened-in-porch for a One Room Challenge. Have you seen it yet? What do you think? My next project comes out of necessity. I was so tired of looking at the mess in my pantry that I decided to give it a makeover. If you are looking for small pantry ideas, let's talk about our small pantry design plans.

The screened-in-porch I recently renovated

Mood board

Budget: under $80

This is the overall direction that I'd like to go—interesting pattern with vines, warm green color matched with warm wooden shelves (probably Early American).

I saw these 2 beautiful wallpaper options by Magnolia and had difficulty deciding which one I like better. When I emailed my landlord a project proposal, she loved both but was more inclined towards one. I'll show you in a couple of days which one we chose 🤗

I like this green color, and I think it would match perfectly with the chosen wallpaper. As for baskets and containers, I'm not yet sure what to do.

Surely, all the glass jars look stunning on Pinterest. I'm just not sure how practical it will be for our family. I'm yet to figure out the perfect organizational solution.

As a part of that solution I think would be great if I could remove one of the shelves and add two instead. This tall space (13") between each of them isn't very functional. Most of the containers are quite low and it's basically a waste of space. I need to figure out how to address that.

I'm thinking of adding a ¼" plywood sheet on top of these shelves and attaching a trim on the front that would cover the edges. That's an idea!

Before

Here is how the pantry looks now. No judgment, please😁 since I was so busy with other projects, every time I'd come with groceries, I'd shovel them in the closet, close the door and call it a day. But it's soon about to change!

You promised no judgment 😀

Design boards are so helpful to start a room renovation and get some of the bigger elements decided, but I always stay open to change as a project evolves. I can’t wait to see this bathroom comes together!

  • Shelves: Custom from Etsy
  • Paint: Bonsai pot by Behr
  • Wallpaper: Magnolia Willow, Magnolia Olive branches
  • Light: Pack LED light
  • Labels: bronze label holders
  • Basket: under shelf basket
  • Basket: Wooven basket
  • Jars: stackable storage jars with lids
  • Crate: wooden crate

Follow along in stories on Instagram how this project turns out!

xoxo,

April

DIY single mom | 📍CT
Hi 👋🏻 I haven't done this in awhile so thoug Hi 👋🏻
I haven't done this in awhile so thought I'd introduce myself.

Im a DIYer by passion, art business MA by education.

I came to USA from Russia 13 years ago. I had an itching urge for adventures 😅

I lived in NYC for the most part and worked at the auction house till I had kids and had to move and adjust to suburban life.

My passion for DIY started when I had my first baby and saw a Montessori baby gym. So I thought.. I probably can make it too!

And I did 😅

When we already moved to CT, I saw a Montessori floor house bed that was well over my budget, so I thought I'd try it out too...

That's when I got my first power tools as an anniversary gift and the rest was history😂

Now I'm a single mom to 2 little girls (Sasha and Sia) and a beautiful long coat German Shepard puppy, named Drogo (after khal Drogo from GOT😁)

We bought our first house in the summer - a 1900s beauty so I had to switch gears from woodworking and start working on room renovations, to make this house our home.

The progress is very slow, since life always gets on the way🤦🏻‍♀️ but my motto is progress, even slow is better than nothing.

I can't wait to get a shed so I can pick up my woodworking projects again. Working out of my porch in the winter is not pleasant 🥶

Haha so here is a thing... I'm not sure how often Haha so here is a thing... I'm not sure how often you wash your hair, but I do it every 4-5 days. And my entire schedule depends on a "hair day"🤣

I'd never do a workout or a messy project if I just did my hair that morning😁

Making videos every day with fresh hair is quite hard lol

Now I'm trying out a new thing... I make "lifestyle", nice reels on my hair day and leave all messy projects for "not a hair day" 🙈😁

Can you relate? Or am I the only one?😁
Would you ever do a workout or a messy project if you just did your hair in the morning? 😅
