ACTIVITIES FOR A 2 YEAR OLD BIRTHDAY PARTY AT HOME

FacebookPinPrintEmail

Since my 2-year-old daughter has a birthday in the winter and we didn't want to spend much, we decided to throw her a party at home. I wrote a blog post here about tips on how to throw a toddler birthday party at home but let's talk about activities that I laid out so 4 toddlers wouldn't destroy my apartment and had fun. The main thing is to keep it simple and mess-free.

ACTIVITIES FOR A 2-YEAR-OLD BIRTHDAY PARTY AT HOME

Create stations.

I created different "stations" around our living room. Points I paid attention to were: mess-free and no small details. So the stations included: puzzles station, activity cube (you can see how I made one here), blocks station that I borrowed from a friend, basket with balls, books, painting station.

For the painting station, I taped a paper roll to a floor, put some stickers, stampers and Do a Dot art. I opted against paint and crayons since I didn't want to chase young artists and prevent them from drawing on the walls in our rental.

I also opted against play-dough after few bad experiences with my daughter ruining our rug 🙂

Dance and Freeze

You'd be surprised how much toddlers LOVE this game. You basically put the music on, tell them to move and freeze when the music stops.

Active games

For our active toddlers, we got a tunnel from Ikea with a house. It was also a big hit since it's so fun to get stuck in the tunnel together 😉

"Photobooth"

We had a photo booth with props but didn't have time to do it. It was simply a backdrop with wild animals on it. Kids were happy 😀

Adults got busy talking and kids were entertained with stations

Cake time and birthday song

A must-have for any birthday 🙂

Toddler Parade

Another cool idea that I had planned but didn't do since everyone was so busy is a Toddler Parade. You can give them musical instruments - drums, shakers, horns, etc. and have them follow you around the house. Also, you can give them ribbons and make them do a dance parade. You can make shakers from corn and paper which could also be a fun activity.

As I mentioned before, almost 3 hours flew by while adults were talking, kids were playing at the "stations". Everyone had so much fun! How do you usually entertain toddlers?
