Christmas is almost here and every year people spend a lot of money on Christmas decor. What about making this year different and actually making your own Christmas decorations? Here is a collection of DIY affordable Christmas decoration ideas for your home.

It's so much fun making Christmas decor yourself that I guarantee you, you'd cherish them for years to come and will never turn to bought once ever again. Yes, making your own Christmas decor definitely will take more time than shopping at the store. But ask yourself, what will you love more in the years to come?

Most of the projects are quite simple and easy to make, so you could involve your kids in the process and then it definitely would have some special value.

1. DIY Christmas village stocking holder

I made this set in 2021 and I think it looks amazing! I loved it so much that couldn't decide which one I like better - the one in color or the one in wooden tones. So I made two of them and gave one to a friend. My kids were so happy to see this on our mantel. It took me a few hours in the evening to paint the colored one, but the result was so worth it.

2. Christmas wall tree from sticks

This DIY Christmas wall tree was a project where my two passions collided - to make something beautiful and to make it almost for free. I love working with natural materials. It's such a great way to contribute to the planet and consumes less plastic. Since it takes so little time to make a tree like this, you can throw it away at the end of the season and make a new one next year.

3. DIY natural Christmas wreath

As I mentioned before, I love the concept of creating decor with natural materials. It's ecologically friendly and has a great impact on the planet. This wreath turned out so beautiful. And everything you see was gathered on the walk in the woods. So the mind is happy and you are too!

4. Wine glass Christmas candle holders

These wine glass Christmas candle holders are unique, beautiful, easy to make, and definitely would make all your guests say "wow". I guarantee it. All you need to make them are thrifted wine glasses, some Epsom salt, a hot glue gun, and a few embellishments. And you'll have the beautiful Christmas table centerpiece.

6. Simple DIY stockings holders

DIY Christmas decorations don't have to be complicated. This project is so simple to make but would definitely elevate your Christmas. Sometimes I feel with all Christmas decor people get overwhelmed to be in the house, so simplicity is a key to surviving the season lol That's why I feel these DIY stocking holders in the shape of houses are so perfect for any home. And you can also add these handmade stockings from felt there. I have a step-by-step tutorial for them. Aren't they lovely?

7. DIY advent village

While other projects probably should be done by you, this DIY advent village from cardboard could be perfect to make with the kids. It took me a couple of evenings to make but the kids were so happy! You can decorate it as you like, I wanted it to look like a candy village. Adding clay rooftops made them even more charming in my opinion.

8. Scandinavian Christmas decor

Here you'll find tutorials on how to make simple Christmas wooden trees, a small bead garland with beads, Christmas trees from yarn and macrame rope, and a taper candle centerpiece. I'm not sure if Scandinavians would approve but this is my take on Scandinavian decor haha

9. Advent calendar with a macrame moon

This is my most favorite advent calendar. Probably since it took me some time to learn how to make the macrame moon for it. You could also use it as decor and put clay white stars instead of the boxes. I loved this moon in the hoop so much that I reused it for a fall wreath this year. I think it's one of my favorite DIY Christmas decorations.

10. Christmas tree from wood and epoxy

I absolutely love the way these Christmas trees from epoxy and wooden circles turned out. It has been a bit of a challenging project, but I laid down for you all the ups and downs in the blog here. In the end, I think it's not that hard to make. I think you should give it a try!

Since we moved to this house last summer, I had a Since we moved to this house last summer, I had a vision for a piano in this corner of my drawing room. I've been passively checking FBMP for awhile now, since it's definitely wasn't a priority (haha we didn't even have a couch till few days ago).

So when I saw this beauty 5 mins away from us, I said to myself it had to be mine!

I finished 7 years of musical school (I was 15 at the time, and barely played ever since). But I really want to pick it up again and teach my kids how to play (well, who am I kidding? I don't have patience for teaching my kids, so I'll find someone who is more qualified than me).

Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear my kids play? ☺️ I'd start with Chopin, he's always been my favorite☺️ I hope kids are ready for it😅🤣

Will it ever get easy? Or let's say easier? The pa Will it ever get easy? Or let's say easier? The pain, the betrayal, that feeling of being powerless? Some people are simply not good people. And I've done my share. I was in a survival mode for more years I can count. How about switching the narrative and fucking focus my energy on me? To thrive! For me and my kids! That's the only thing I want now.
It's hard to do, but thriving is the only way to go!
